Low level vibrations on the ground and floors of buildings is measured using a seismic accelerometer. Where it is relevant, results are compared with guidance such as BS6472 or BS7385.

General purpose accelerometers are used for measurements of machinery vibration. Relevant standards are consulted for guidance.
